I was positing with a couple pals when the news about DonJazzy/D’Banj being signed to G.O.O.D Music hit these internets, that it was more probable that the deal was made because of the brand of magic Don Jazzy brings to the table. D’Banj in my view, does not offer a very perceivable or immediate benefit to the G.O.O.D roster.  I may not have been conclusively proven right, D’Banj is definitely a very talented artist in his own right, is on a level many artists, Nigerian or otherwise, aspire to be and may have some direct contributions in the future, but what you see below lends credibility to the former hypothesis.

Lift Off” f. Beyonce, which already contains production work from heavyweight producers Mike Dean, Jeff Bhasker, Q-Tip and even Mr. West himself, adds Don Jazzy to that vaunted list. For good measure, it may surprise some that Don Jazzy’s vocals rather than D’Banj were featured in the song composition, or on any other song for that matter. My imagination spins for what the final record has in store. Following a similar ethic to All Of The Lights which had an eclectic range of  ‘cooks in the kitchen’ including alt. rocker Bon Iver and the legendary Elton John contributing keyboard and vocals to that record, Kanye seems eager to eek out that same effect albeit with a meeker line up on Lift Off. The featured artist is Beyonce but includes a no less stellar contributing cast in Seal (also of Nigerian descent), Mr Hudson, Bankulli, Ricardo Louis and Don Jazzy.
