Here’s our monthly set for July, and the second in the series. July had a ton of releases with Rozay’s album Teflon Don, Drake, Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi and other artists releasing singles and remixes. Here’s some of what went down. Rozay dropped his fourth album but was stopped short of a number one debut by Eminem who’s still holding steady at #1 for the fifth week. Lupe Fiasco remade Rozay’s “B.M.F.”, and Kid Cudi teamed up with Vampire Weekend’s Rostam and Best Coast’s Bethany Consentino for the hugely popular “All Summer” as part of the Converse series. Chykay built more hype for his antipated mixtape The Gentleman with “Carry Go” and I.B hit the dancefloor while skating on Sean Kingston’s “Take You There” instrumentals with African percussions. J. Cole and Wale dropped a couple records and snippets building anticipation for their respective releases. Wale’s “More About Nothing Mixtape” hits the streets August 3rd and J. Cole’s skin tight collab with Jim Jonsin gets your hopes up for Cole World. Mr. London hit the studio with Maximum Balloon for “Groove Me” while Mr. Hudson’s record for Kanye’s expected mixtape “Good A** Mixtape” dropped a couple days ago.
